PSYCHEDELIC ARTS is a multimedia project of the German electronic musician and therapist Thor Reinhardt.
My musical roots lie in the psychedelic rock music of 60th and 70th years, especially the influences of PINK FLOYD and BRIAN ENO. Till 2005 I`ve been a part of the German Electronic-group “HEMISPHERE”, which is well-known for her unique deep ambient sound design.
My music wants to show a way to personal and spiritual experiences.
The ancient schamanic tradition, using music as a means of transportation in other rooms and landscapes of our consciousness, has fascinated me for a long time.
Today modern digital studio engineering helps me to create a music which ties to this tradition, so to speak, "back to the roots".
New neurophysiological cognitions say that such trance inducing sounds can produce resonance phenomena in the brain of the listener and e.g. can cause a state of awareness and presence.
As a body therapist I use this music as a supporting musical background.
PSYCHEDELIC ARTS is based on the PC program "PARTICLE SYSTEMS”, an extraordinary visual 3D-animation program, created by the Swiss software designer Andreas Kardin, which modulate light particles with sinusoidal waves (like a synthesizer do with sound waves) from which permanently changing pictures arise.
It`s interesting that the mathematical basis of this program produce archaic forms and patterns, particularly mandala and spiral patterns, which are well-known in the mythology as integral symbols and this one arise likewise in the iconography of shamanic cultures.
We think that these symbols are suitable to produce a resonance to the pre-conscious mythical quotas of our memory of (the collective unconsciousness) and to reveal an access to lower layers to our personality with that.
We understand music and visual animation similarly as vibration phenomena which step into resonance with the free vibration of our brain and modulate these in a certain way.
Our brain swings like the corpus of a musical instrument; frequencies and pattern determined at this of correlate with specific consciousness modalities and certain vegetative activity patterns.
Seeing vibrations in colors and forms and hearing vibrations in sounds and rhythmns.
PSYCHEDELIC ARTS can lead to a special neural organization which one also describes as a "trance" when you are gently focusing on the audio visual Stimuli. The trance himself is an altered state of consciousness state with the following characteristics:
· far-reaching shielding of outer attractions
· Contraction of the consciousness with increased concentration and attention
· Increase of imagination
· Intensification of emotional atmospheres (vibrations)
· Being aware of unconscious contents
This mental condition is indicated by clear presence and a feeling of self acceptance and stimulates a kind of being, in which people are aware of her body, her identity and her ambient environment in a new, more comprehensive way.
This state is accompanied by physiological alterations, like a deceleration of the brain wave frequency (alpha rhythm), reduced breath frequency, lower pulse frequency and a reduction of the stress hormone distribution.
The effect of PSYCHEDELIC ARTS is like taking away mental filters or conditions: the disappearance of a fog or a cloud which releases the view for room and light.
Music and animations are select so that they support a mindful state of awake and clear presence.
On this basis Psychedelic Arts is like a mirror in which the observer and listener can experience his own projections and inner pictures.
It`s interesting, that you don`t need any special synchronization between music and visual animation. The brain rather produces a sense giving connection itself. Unlike conventional Brain-Machines, which often are structured very technically, Psychedelic Arts offers an esthetic access to the mystery of our brain.
